About Maria
Maria Widmer (she/her) consults with L&S instructors, advances educational engagement efforts, and contributes to initiatives such as the L&S Exchange Podcast and the L&S Design for Learning Series.
With a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the UW–Madison School of Education, Maria’s research and practice are focused on student development, teaching and learning, and innovation in higher education. Additionally, Maria holds a Master of Education in Learning, Design, and Technology from Penn State University. Maria uses a collaborative approach to working with instructors and campus partners to advance teaching excellence, learner engagement, and student well-being.
In addition to her instructional design work, Maria has a strong background in teaching. She has served as the instructor for first-year seminars, large enrollment undergraduate classes, graduate-level courses, and community literacy programs.
